That's Okay, I'm Gonna Rock Your Body Anyway
In honour of the holiday, I thought I'd post a music video from one of our national treasures:

Everybody loves the mall...

Maybe. ;)

I think it's the political cameo that really sealed the deal on my video love...

Hi from Emily from Shore Leave! I've friended you.

So, I'm so happy you posted this, because now I get to learn about Canadian culture as well as British culture! Who might this national treasure be?

Hi, Emily! I wanted to make sure you found me, so I friended you before leaving Baltimore... :)

I'm happy to teach you all about Canadian culture, but this may not be the best place to start...since Robin Sparkles is entirely fictional. :} She was the alter ego of Robin Scherbatsky, one of the main characters on How I Met Your Mother, in an episode called "Slap Bet."

They did bother to make the whole video (plus she has a MySpace profile), but it's basically an elaborate joke based (somewhat) on the fact that Cobie Smulders, who plays Robin, is actually Canadian. The video is a pastiche of real videos from around fifteen years ago, like Debbie Gibson's "We Could Be Together" or "Electric Youth", and especially the early Alanis Morissette Canadian hit "Too Hot" (back when she was just Alanis in this country).

If I haven't bored you yet, there are definitely more Canadian entries around here, like my rant about the Degrassi franchise, and I'm sure there'll be more...
